SvdL SHOWROOM
New York , NY
Located on 57th Street and Madison Avenue, the SvdL Showroom is the principle retail space for a designer of couture hats and shoes. The owner desired both a comfortable setting in which to meet with her clients and a space in which she could hold salon-like evening gatherings. To realize the project within the client's aggressive budget and schedule, Bade Stageberg Cox developed a reconfigurable, CNC milled, display system of prefabricated components that support the unique, hand-made quality of the products. BSC took inspiration from the Constructivist Naum Gabo, the Surrealist images of Magritte, and the anthropomorphic quality of the head molds used in the milliner's trade.
