ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY DEALERS (AIPAD)
New York, NY
In designing the layout for AIPAD’s The Photography Show, BSC prioritized clear circulation, well-proportioned spaces, and a balanced relationship between individual galleries and the larger context of the show.
Our design incorporated lounge spaces anchoring each gallery section, offering an abundance of natural light and city views. The layout of the venue lent itself naturally to the creation of enfilade spaces with highly individualized booth layouts. The vertical circulation of the building ensured that visitors could easily navigate the fair and view every gallery.
The design utilized the venue's natural light by the introduction of photography gels. The manipulation of color in photography and film is instrumental in creating mood and enhancing existing light conditions. The colored gels at Center 415's 5th Avenue entry create a warm glow and produce ever-changing colored shadows that heightens the viewer’s awareness of light and space. Circular cut-outs in the film reference this year's signage design and serve as lenses from which to view the city beyond.
